Egyptian Visually-Impaired Siblings Known for Their Ibtihal Recitations

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mohammed and Iman are an Egyptian brother and sister whose mastery in Ibtihal recitation has gained them popularity in the country.

According to youm7 website, Iman Wael Ahmed Qarib is in the 9th grade and her brother Mohammed is in the 7th grade.

They live in Dirb an-Najm, a town in Egypt’s Sharqia Governorate.

The visually-impaired siblings are memorizers of the Quran, having started learning the Holy Book by heart at an early age.

Iman started memorization at six and committed the entire Quran to memory in two years.

She also learned the rules of Tajweed and the ten styles of recitation, thus receiving a Quran recitation permit at 12.

Mohammed memorized the Quran in two years, starting at the age of 6.

The two siblings have competed in different Quran contests and won a number of them.

They are interested in listening to Quran recitations by Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Mohammed Rif’at, Mahmoud al-Khisht, Ahmed Nuaina and Abdul Fattah al-Taruti.

The siblings are most known for their talent in Ibtihal recitation.

Ibtihal is recitation of supplications and eulogies, including those in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
